The firm was founded in 2005 when Arthur Uhl and Shelly Jewett formed Uhl & Jewett, P.C. Arthur and Shelly first worked together in the real estate department at Matthews and Branscomb, P.C. Arthur had been with Matthews and Branscomb for his entire legal career, while Shelly started her practice in Southern California before returning home to San Antonio in 2000.
In 2006, Joseph Fitzsimons, brought his oil, gas and mineral law practice to the firm to form Uhl, Fitzsimons & Jewett, PLLC. The synergies of the firm’s Mineral law and real estate practices were quickly apparent, as the firm’s land and mineral owner clients benefitted from the combined areas of expertise. The firm added associates Trace Burton and Alex Sostre in 2007. Trace practiced in San Antonio prior to joining the firm, while Alex practiced in Miami. With the recent increase in oil and gas activity, the firm added Robert Park in 2011, and Parks Brown in 2013.
In June 2013, the firm changed its name to Uhl, Fitzsimons, Jewett & Burton, PLLC in recognition of Trace Burton’s valued leadership and contributions to the firm as it continues to grow and meet the needs of businesses and land owners.
Alex Sostre was named a partner in the real estate department in January 2015.
In 2018, the firm added an estate and business planning department and named Harry W. Wolff, Jr. a partner to the firm and our name changed to Uhl, Fitzsimons, Jewett, Burton & Wolff, PLLC. Harry Wolff, Jr., brings over 35 years of experience to the practice in advising clients on estate planning and probate issues, federal transfer tax matters and controversies, asset protection and private wealth planning, business succession planning, and nonprofit formation and governance issues.
Robert Park was named partner in the oil and gas department in January 2019.
In June 2019, the firm expanded again with the addition of Jaime S. Rangel who joined the firm as partner and head of the litigation practice group, and our name changed to Uhl, Fitzsimons, Jewett, Burton, Wolff & Rangel, PLLC (Uhl Fitzsimons).
Parks Brown was named partner in the oil and gas and real estate departments in April 2020.
Our goal at Uhl Fitzsimons has always been to provide the best legal representation possible to our clients. With the continued growth of the firm we are able to offer a wider range of services to complement our real estate and energy practices.
Upon the departure of Shelly Jewett in 2021, the firm changed its name to Uhl, Fitzsimons, Burton, Wolff & Rangel, PLLC.
Ryan M. Lammert was named partner in the litigation department in January of 2022.
Anson B. Howard was named partner in the oil and gas department in January 2023.
Blake L. Waggoner was named partner in the oil and gas department in April 2024.
