Graves grew up in San Antonio and spent a good part of his life on his family’s ranch in Atascosa County working, hunting, and learning how South Texas ranches operate.  His practice focuses on the representation of land and mineral interest owners in the negotiation of oil and gas leases, renewable energy leases, pipeline easements and mineral conveyances.  His ranching background also helps his work on grazing leases, hunting leases, and the other wildlife and agricultural aspects of his clients’ businesses.

Biography

Admitted to the Texas Bar in 2023

Education:
University of Houston (J.D., 2023).

During law school at the University of Houston, Graves was on the Dean’s List every semester, and was a member of the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal where his paper Preventing Cybergeddon: How Comprehensive Regulation Can Help Protect American Critical Infrastructure Systems From Cyberattacks was published in Spring 2022 issue. Texas Christian University (B.A., 2020).

Representative Experience

  • Representation of mineral owners in Oil and Gas Lease negotiations, and of surface owners in Surface Use Agreement negotiations.

  • Representation of clients in Oil and Gas Lease termination disputes, including the failure to produce in paying quantities, and the failure to maintain continuous drilling obligations.

  • Representation of royalty owners in royalty payment audits.

  • Representation of clients in Pipeline Easement negotiations.

  • Representation of clients in Solar Lease and Wind Lease negotiations.

  • Representation of clients in mineral conveyance transactions, including the negotiation of purchase and sale agreements, and due diligence in mineral title reviews.
